Please use the front door or parking lot entrance when visiting the school. All other doors are kept locked during the day.

Attendance

Parents are asked to call the school on or before a day when a student will be absent. If we have not been notified of your child’s whereabouts, we will contact you immediately after attendance is taken. Please leave a message on the school answering machine if you are calling outside of office hours. Repeated or unexplained absences may warrant the use of the divisional attendance officer. This is due in part to our concern for children safety and welfare. If we are unable to contact the parents or guardian or receive no reply at the home, the attendance officer is available to check on the family to ensure their child is safe.

Electronic Devices

Video games, headphones, MP3 players, CD players, cell phones and other electronic devices should not be used during school hours.

Student Lates

To make sure all students are accounted, we ask that all students that arrive after 8:27 a.m. to report to the office to obtain a Welcome Slip before heading into class.

Bicycles, In-Line Skates & Skateboards

Students may come to school by bicycle, in-line skates or skateboard. They are expected to have a bicycle lock and to use the bike racks provided. Skateboards and in-line skates are not permitted in the school. In-line skates are to be removed upon entry to the school and stored in a locker. Skateboards are not permitted in the halls. Students must carry their board to their locker and keep it there until dismissal. Failure to comply with these expectations will result in confiscation for a period of time.

The school is not responsible for loss of these items.

Dress Code

Guidelines

Clothing and personal gear should be respectful of the learning environment and those within it. Our clothing should not be offensive in any way, or unsuitable for a school setting such as:

  • logos, emblems or phrases that display disrespectful language, violence, drug use, racism, sexism or ethnic prejudice
  • bare midriffs, revealing clothing or exposed undergarments
  • hats and other headwear

Exceptions may include headwear worn for medical or religious reasons, approved learning-related activities, and special activity days.

Indoor Footwear

Shoes with non-marking soles should be worn inside the school. Students must wear footwear at all times.

Phys. Ed Clothing (Grade 4-8)

Students in Grades 4-8 are encouraged to have an appropriate change of clothing for Physical Education.

Please label student belongings, particularly shoes, boots, and gym clothing. Check our Lost and Found Box under the Trophy Cabinet for any lost items. Outerwear such as jackets, parkas, and winter boots should not be worn indoors.

Lost and Found

The school lost and found is located at the north end of the hall near the parking lot entrance. Check here first if you have lost any articles of clothing or footwear.

School Lockers

Lockers are provided for students in Grades 4-8. Students must use the lock that the school provides. Unauthorized locks will be cut off. Lockers are school property; staff has access to them at any time. Students are required to sign a locker use agreement. The school is not responsible for stolen articles. The provided locks are a deterrent, not a guarantee of security.
